6 Army Most Powerful of All Time
All types of military forces, the army of arguably the most important for the simple fact that people that live in the soil, and will continue to do so in the future. As a renowned political scientist John j. Mearsheimer has noted: "their troops, the air and naval support, the most important form of military power in the modern world."
In fact, according to Mearsheimer, the Pacific war against Japan was the "only great power war in modern history in the land of the own strength it is not primarily responsible for determining the results, and in which one of the coercive instruments —airpower or sea power — played over additional resources." Nevertheless, maintaining the Mearsheimer, "the power of the land [still] played an important role in defeating Japan."
Thus, the army is the most important factor in assessing the relative strength of countries. But how can we judge the army is the most powerful in their time? With their ability to win the battle of firm and consistent and the extent to which they are allowed their country to dominate other countries-the function of land power, as only soldiers can achieve this type of control and conquest. Here are some of the strongest army in history.
The Roman Army
The famous Roman army conquered the Western world over the past few hundred years. The advantage of the Roman army is persistence, his ability to come back and fight again and again even in the face of utter defeat. The Romans displayed this Punic War when despite the lack of knowledge and resources, they were able to defeat the Carthaginians first to wait them out and then using the tactic of surprise (with landings at Carthage itself).
The Romans gave the troops a lot of initiatives to fight for the army with spirit anddetermination. For the army of the poor, victory in war means the land grant. For the owner of the land, meaning that protects what they held dear and also get additional wealth. For the Roman State as a whole, the victory means securing security in Rome.
All these initiatives have spurred soldiers to fight harder, and spirit is very important in the performance of the troops. Just as important in this case is the use of a multiple-line formations, among many advantages, helping fill the Roman army troops in the front line during the battle, in which the Roman army that is fresh will square off against enemies who are tired. The Roman army, led by General brilliant, mobility is also used to generate a profit, especially offensive against their enemies often defensive-minded.
As a result, in the span of about three hundred years, Rome expanded from the strength of Italy's regional to master the whole of the Mediterranean Sea and the surrounding area. The Roman legions-Roman army Division which contains professional soldiers who served for 25 years — trained and well armed with iron and placed in strategic locations throughout the Empire, both holding the Empire together and theenemy at Bay. The Roman army, despite some setbacks, really have no competitors the same power anywhere in the vicinity.
The Mongols
The Mongols, who totaled one million most men when they started them in 1206, conquered and conquered most of Eurasia in a hundred years, defeating the armiesand Nations who have dozens or even hundreds of times the manpower of the Mongols. The Mongols is essentially a force unstoppable that seem to appear out of nowhere to dominate the Middle East, China and Russia.
The success of the Mongols that boiled down to a lot of the strategies and tactics used by Genghis Khan, who founded the Mongol Empire. Most important is the mobility of the Mongols and their durability. To begin with, the Mongol Nomadic way of life allows them to move large forces crossed an incredible distance in a short time, such as the Mongols could live off their cattle or horses their blood.
Indeed, the Mongols improved mobility by them depend on the horse. Mongol Cavalrymen each managed three or four horses to keep them all fresh. Cavalrymen, which has a bow they could shoot while Riding, giving distinct advantages over the Mongol infantry during the war. The mobility generated by horses as temporarily as their strict discipline, also allowed the Mongols to utilize the innovative tactics includehit and run attacks and primitive form of blitzkrieg.
The Mongols also relies on terror, intentionally inflicting massive damage and casualties on their defeated enemies to break the spirit of the people of the future.
Ottoman Army
The Ottoman army conquered much of the Middle East, the Balkans and North Africa in its heyday. It's almost always overwhelmed Christian and Muslim neighbors. Conquer one of the most impenetrable in the world — Constantinople — in 1453. Forfive hundred years, it is basically the only player in an area that was previously made up of dozens of countries and until the 19th century, managed to hold its own against all their neighbours. How the Ottoman armed forces do?
The Ottoman army began to make good use of cannons and muskets prior to his enemies, many of whom are still struggling with medieval weapons. This gave a decisive advantage when a young Royal. The gun take Constantinople and defeated the Persians and the Mamluk Egypt succeeded in Egypt. One of the main advantages of the Ottoman Empire was the use of a special, elite infantry unit called the army. Soldiers are trained from youth to be soldiers and are thus very loyal and effective on the battlefield.
The Army Of Nazi Germany
After prolonged stalemates of world war i, the armies of Nazi Germany — the Wehrmacht — shocked Europe and the world by occupying the Central and most of Western Europe in a matter of months. At one point, Nazi Germany forces even seemedready to conquer the Soviet Union.
Germany's army was able to achieve this great accomplishment through the use ofan innovative concept of Blitzkrieg, which makes use of new technologies in weaponry and communications, combining speed, surprise and the concentration of power to terrifying efficiency. In particular, the armored infantry unit and mechanical assisted by close air support that is able to punch through enemy lines and encircle the opposing force. In the Temple of World War II, the opposing Forces that are often very surprised and overwhelmed resistance they put up only minimally.
Executing a Blitzkrieg attack, capable of highly trained troops, who had been in Berlin in spades. As the historian Andrew Roberts has observed, "soldiers for the army ofthe men against Germany and General American and Britons, ahead of Russia withoffensive and defensive factors significantly almost the entire second world war."
Although the Nazi ideology and leader of the melomaniac hamper the war effort of the Wehrmacht, was finally not enough resources and manpower that Nazi Germany was dropped.
The Soviet Army
The Soviet Army (known as the Red Army before 1946), more than any other Army, was responsible for turning the tide of World War II. Indeed, the battle of Stalingrad, which ended with the surrender of Germany the entire 6th Army, almost Universallycited as the major turning point of the European theatre of World War II.
The Soviet Union's victory in the war, and its ability to threaten the whole of Europefor four decades after the fighting stopped, has little to do with a superior technology (outside of a nuclear weapon) or military genius (indeed, Stalin's military leadership is really disastrous, especially at the beginning of World War II, and he has cleaned up many more capable commander in the years leading up to it).
In contrast, the Soviet army was a military giant thanks almost entirely to large size, measured from the Mainland, residents and industry resources. As Richard Evans, a prominent historian of the Nazi Germany, explains: "the troops according to its own estimate of the Soviet Union, the Red Army losses in the war amounted to more than 11 million, more than 100,000 aircraft, more than 300,000 pieces of artillery, and almost 100,000 tanks and self-propelled guns. Other authorities have put the military personnel losses were much higher, as high as 26 million indeed. "
To be sure, there are times when the military genius, especially when Stalin empowered him some commanders who are capable, and promising technology, especially the T-34 tank. However, this is not a determining factor in the ultimate success of the Soviet Union, as the great sacrifices continue through the battle of Berlin.
With the exception of nuclear weapons, the Soviet forces of the cold war it is not much different than with the enemy. While NATO held many of the advantages of the technology over the past four decades of struggle, the Soviet Union enjoyed a hugenumerical advantage in various categories, especially labor. As a result, in the event of a conflict in Europe, the U.S. and NATO are planning to switch to early nuclear weapons.
United States
For most of its history, the United States has avoided the large standing army thatmaintains. This is the Constitution of the United States: while the design directs Congress to provide and maintain a Navy, it only authorizes Congress to raise and support armies is necessary.
America is correct for this model until the end of World War II, raising a large armyduring wartime but quickly dismantle them after that. Even still, the US Army since the beginning of the 20th century as it has been very effective, especially in the battle against the countries. It's America entered World War i and WWII that helped tip the balance of power in favor of the allies. United States also demolished Saddam Hussein's army in Kuwait in 1991 and Iraq in 2003.
More tellingly, the United States is the only power in history will use a large number of military forces, including ground forces, with a quick and effective. This highlightsone of the main factors in the success of the U.S. Army; that is, while not huge numerically such as countries like the Soviet Union, the United States Army was highly trained fighting force that operated excellent technology. It is also backed up by the largest naval and air power in the world has ever known.
